Thank you for your gifts to Festival of Sharing- I look forward to sharing our grand total of giving and to see how the Festival in-gathering looks and feels on Oct 21 in Sedalia.
Session and Deacons are busy: we have met together and are playing with some ideas for fellowship and mission, organization and leadership. Our All Church Nominating Committee is very busy this fall.
You will be asked to vote on Sunday December 10 on three very important items:
- A Pastor Nominating Committee, which will begin its work in January. (vote 1)
- A new structure for our session and deacons in order to make best use of our leaders and to include members of the congregation in planning program and sharing ideas:
- We are asking the congregation to change the bylaws to make the session and deacon board 9 members each. We will elect 3 new elders and 3 new deacons to the class of 2020 to reflect that change. (votes 2 & 3)
- In January, we will have new teams and committees and invite everyone to participate. Already we have new and active Worship and Christian Education Committees in addition to our active Congregational Care Committee.
Our Youth Groups are in high gear: thank you to Cora Jane Neff, Becky Dulany, Barb Riley, Arlene Coyle and others who are helping on Tuesdays and Thursdays- some more of you have volunteered for later this fall- Thank you!
In addition, we have a couple of adult and family opportunities to learn together:
Reformation Sunday: Oct 29- movie and discussion about Martin Luther, 3 pm in session room.
Wed. Dec 6- St Nicolas Day, we will have an Advent event- 6:30 pm- story, crafts, snacks and maybe a special visitor.
Our Stewardship discussion and drive are kicking into gear. I hope you have read Jeff’s Stewardship stories about our outreach to Hungary and our partner church’s missions there, and the “Nuts N’ Bolts” of keeping this beautiful old building in fine condition, and answering the call when there are emergencies! We have very dedicated individuals who put heart, body and soul into this property and its use for the glory of God!
We are practicing hospitality: In November we will host both the Presbytery Youth Retreat (Nov. 10-11) and the meeting of Missouri Union Presbytery on Nov. 18. In the next 2 weeks, we will be inviting you to help! We will have an important fellowship meal and discussion on Sunday, Nov. 19. More information to come very soon!
Thank you for the kind words and cards for Pastor Appreciation Day! I appreciate you right back and look forward to a busy fall, Advent, Christmas and new year in ministry with you!
